dark blue
sea green
dark grey
gold
Masculine and professional color scheme with both dark and light colors to provide contrast.

An edgy font similar to Old English (the font originally requested for the main logo) but with a more modern feel. Eye-catching yet not overdone.

A curvy font that will provide excellent contrast to Crumble's grungy feel. Will probably be used for subheadings, as in this wireframe.

A visually appealing sans-serif font that is prettier than Arial but will still enable the viewer to read large blocks of text with ease.

Revamp of the TDX shield (completed)

Proposed Hypertex Map

The Good
Alpha Phi Sorority | Michigan State University
Hands down the best of MSU's fraternity & sorority websites. The design is cute, the site is easy to navigate, and the information available is well-organized into a small number of categories. The inclusion of a search feature on the main page and the random main page graphic add a nice touch to the Alpha Phi site. The site's only downfall is that it has not been updated since fall 2005.
Phi Kappa Tau | Michigan State University
Bold, striking colors and fonts really help this Michigan State fraternity make a statement, though a bolder main text font could have been chosen to match the feel of the rest of the site. A lot of subpages to navigate through, some of which are repetitive and/or unnecessary (a mapquest map to the fraternity's house?). Site has not been updated since May 2005.
Pi Beta Phi | Michigan State University
Design is pretty appealing in theory but could have been scaled down a bit so the viewer does not have to do so much scrolling. The pinks are attractive but the melon color doesn't really seem to match the rest of the color scheme. Recruitment information is up-to-date, detailed, and informative. All other subpages are packed with useful information and lots of pictures.
The Bad
Kappa Alpha Theta | Michigan State University
Highlighting behind the links was a good idea in theory, but really only the gray behind "Philanthropy" looks good and not blinding. The small number of navigational tabs is appealing, but the site doesn't really have a lot of content behind any of the sections. The "Famous Thetas" section under "Theta Facts" is cute, although the pictures could have been uniform sizes. The "Theta Calendar" is also missing. In addition, the site does not indicate any way to contact Kappa Alpha Theta.
Sigma Pi Fraternity | Michigan State University
Annoying flash on main page that just keeps looping (would've been somewhat nice though if it stopped on the picture of the house at the end). And should there really be pictures of mostly naked girls representing Sigma Pi at MSU? Alumni & Nationals links should warn the viewer that they link to separate sites. The look and organization of the About Us page is modern and well done. Excellent look & feel for most of the subpages (minus the flash banners) but they don't seem to match the top & bottom banners that the content is contained between. THIS SITE ACTUALLY HAS INFORMATION REGARDING SPRING 2006 RUSH! YAYYYY!
The Ugly
Michigan State University :: Greek System
This site utilizes every bad flash element ever. There is a flash intro, music, annoying flash rollovers...the works. Broken links, difficult navigation...this site does not accurately represent Michigan State's Greek community.
Kappa Sigma Fraternity | Michigan State University
Very little content, and their shoutbox is overrun with spam. The entire "Join Kappa Sigma" section contains no content, and many other sections are nonexistent as well. The picture gallery is nice. Site has not been updated since spring 2005.
